What it does

In the EA189 with balancer shaft module, a small hex drives the stock oil pump; if this drive wears, oil starvation can damage the engine, including the turbocharger. The set removes the module together with the hex and the stock pump. In their place goes the MMHP oil pump with its own hardened drive from the crankshaft; the existing oil pan can stay, no pan change is needed.

Why we advise Stage 2We recommend Stage 2 (+116 %). At idle, Stage 1 (+35 %) sits only just above the danger limit and suits as-new engines better. For T5, Amarok and Crafter only Stage 2 is available.

Oil flow over engine speed with a warm engine, typical driving profile; percentages relative to the stock pump at high rpm. Top line = stock maximum pressure: the relief valve limits every pump to it. Stage 2 reaches it at high rpm, which is by design. With cold oil every pump reaches it at once. Stage 1 and Stage 2: same installation and same tools, but different parts: Stage 2 has a pump that moves more oil. More oil flow at the same maximum pressure: oil pressure stays limited as in stock (relief valve).

Does the timing belt need to be removed for installation?
Yes. The timing belt must be removed in order to remove either the sprocket or the gear (depending on the version). This is necessary to build the new system starting at the crankshaft. A new drive wheel is installed on the crankshaft, which directly drives the new oil pump.
Do I need a different oil pump?
Yes. The oil pump included in the kit has a higher circulation volume than the standard oil pump, which is smaller due to its position on the balance shaft module. Our experience shows that most engine damage is caused by insufficient engine lubrication, especially in sensitive and expensive turbochargers.
Can I perform the installation myself?
Yes. Private individuals as well as businesses—including ambitious hobby mechanics—can perform the installation themselves. The eGuide you receive with your purchase is essential to avoid mistakes. We strongly recommend following the instructions exactly.
Can I do the installation quickly?
Even for experienced automotive professionals, the information in the eGuide may be new. Mistakes are common without prior experience, so it’s advisable to take enough time for the installation. Rushing without guidance can lead to problems. Careful execution using the eGuide prevents errors.
Does the engine block need to be drilled?
It may be necessary to cut threads afterward if certain machining steps were omitted during the manufacturing of the engine block. The kit includes special taps and templates that allow these tasks to be carried out precisely. Whether these threaded holes are already present can only be determined after removing the oil pan and the balance shaft module.
I’m concerned about cutting threads in my engine block.
So far, we have been able to address all customer concerns. We are only carrying out steps that were omitted on some blocks during production for cost reasons. With our instructions and the correct tools (included in the kit), you can perform these modifications safely and without issues yourself. There is no reason to worry.
Why doesn’t MMHP state fixed oil pressure values (e.g., idle / 2,500 rpm)?
Because oil pressure is not a fixed “pump value,” but the result of an entire oil system. A single number may look objective, but it only makes sense if the measurement conditions are identical—and in practice they rarely are. Even with the same engine type, engines are not comparable 1:1: factory production tolerances, individual wear, internal leakage, oil temperature, oil viscosity (e.g., fuel dilution), engine speed, and the measurement point/sensor setup can all significantly affect the displayed pressure. Every engine is effectively unique and changes over its service life.

Also important: there isn’t just “one” oil pressure in an engine. Depending on the measurement location and operating condition, different pressure levels exist within the system. The displayed value is therefore always a symptom of the overall condition—not automatically a quality judgment of an oil pump.

What matters is that the oil system provides sufficient flow volume and reserve under real-world conditions over the long term—not a single measurement number.

Finally a solution that actually works (Audi Q5 2.0 TDI CGLC)
As an automotive repair shop specializing in engine and turbocharger repairs, we have been dealing for quite some time with low oil pressure problems on certain 2.0 TDI engines, especially when the engine reaches operating temperature and is running at idle.

We spent a lot of time trying to find the cause and a reliable solution. We consulted with local workshops as well as authorized service centers, but unfortunately, we were not able to solve the problem permanently.

In the end, we found your company and your upgraded oil pump, which increases both oil pressure and oil flow. We ordered the pump and installed it, and the result was excellent. The oil pressure problem was completely resolved.

What makes us especially happy is that we finally found a reliable solution to a problem that, from our experience and discussions with other professionals, is quite widespread across Europe.

Ich muss Euch echt ein Lob für euer Produkt aussprechen. Habe am Wochenende die Ölpumpe(aus reiner Vorsichtsmaßnahme, weil mir andere KFZ-Meister, diese empfohlen haben) eingebaut. Es ging alles super einfach und der EGuide war sehr gut geschrieben/beschrieben. Ganz wichtig hierbei ist, den EGuide genau zu lesen und Ihn auch genau zu befolgen! Ich habe heute schon 120Testkm gefahren und bin begeistert. Fazit: Motor läuft deutlich ruhiger, Öldruck ist etwas gestiegen(gegenüber der alten Pumpe), passt sich super der Drehzahl an und die Öltemperatur ist zwischen 6*- 9*C weniger… Alles womit dieses Produkt wirbt, ist bisher eingetreten und ich freue mich, die nächsten 330.000km mit meiner Elsa fahren zu dürfen!

Tolles Produkt
Ich wollt nur nochmal danke sagen für die Kostengünstige und Gute alternative für das Ausgleichwellenproblem bei VAG.
Habe den Umbau mit meiner Werkstatt des vertrauens gemacht (für die war es auch neuland) aber sie waren sofort von eurem Konzept überzeugt.
Und eibau ging mit der Anleitung auch super sagten sie.
Und muss sagen er zieht jetzt ein bisschen besser und ein größerer Öl-Haushalt kann ja auch nicht schaden.
Aufjedenfall dickes DANKE und ich hoffe ich hab mit dem Text nicht zuviel eurer zeit verschwendet..
Ich werde euch immer weiter empfehlen!

Erfahrungen mit dem Umrüstsystem
Hallo,

Ja ich habe die Umrüstung gestern durchgeführt.
Die Anleitung war verständlich und es gab keine Probleme bei der Umrüstung.
Der Motor läuft auch ohne Ausgleichswellenmodul sehr ruhig. Alles in allem ist es eine sehr saubere Umrüstung, begeistert bin ich auch von der hochwertigen Verpackung.
Ich bin schon auf die Langzeitergebnisse gespannt.
